I purchased this razor as a gift for my husband. He's been using it for a month now and loves it. Using his old razor was causing redness on his face and neck which is not happening now with this new razor. I used to own the previous generation Cool Skin shaver that used the Nivea packets. While I liked the shaver, I hated messing with the packets, and the plastic piece that covered the spring for the flip head eventually broke.
This shaver is a much better design. It shaves as well as the previous model, and has the advantage of being much lighter. I would highly recommend this shaver for people that have difficulty raising their arms and maintaining their grip. The cartridge-style lotion injection is much easier to use, and no lotion is wasted. Some reviewers have stated that the lotion does not last long. That has not been my experience - the lotion supplied with the shaver lasted me over two months, and the containers are smaller than what you get when you order replacements. What I typically do is dry shave to get most of the stubble off, then use the lotion to finish up - maybe some people use it to start off, and that's why they use it up so quickly. It does not irritate my face to dry shave initially, but I would not use this shaver strictly as a dry shaver - the lotion is really needed to get a good finished shave.
I also tried using this shaver once in the shower - I didn't like the way it shaved wet, and the lotion is not really as effective as when shaving dry. I had to use a lot more lotion. I don't recommend this shaver for wet shaving (even outside the shower with a wet face). Start with a completely dry face and dry shave, then finish with the lotion for best results. Besides, shaving in the shower wastes water!
The charging base is small, and the whole shaver takes up less space on the counter than its larger predecessor.

Lotion cost (it is really required to use this shaver effectively)
Overall, this shaver is superior to the older model in every respect - the only thing I miss about my old shaver is the sideburn attachment. In fact, I've kept the old one just for that one purpose.

After many years... perhaps too many... and often times even shaving with a straight-edge, I decided to go with modern times and try friends and relatives suggestions about Norelco products. I bought the Nivea, tried it and found it a very pleasant experience. And extremly close, as well. I bought one for my best friend and now he uses one,too. product works well, i only use it wet and use regular shave gel to conserve the nivea lotion (expensive refill) -- Works good
